Transfers with broad applicability
Textile products
What do we mean by sublimation?
The sublimation process can be described in the following steps: a digital image is printed with special ink onto transfer paper, after which the paper is pressed with a heat press onto a coated object (such as textiles or mugs). Due to the heat, the ink changes directly from a solid into a gas and the ink molecules penetrate the coating of the object, creating a permanent, full-colour and durable image that will not crack or fade.
Steps of the sublimation process
Printing
A digital design, such as a photo, is printed onto special sublimation paper using sublimation inks.
Transfer
The printed transfer paper is placed onto a product that has a special coating, such as a polyester T-shirt, a mug, or an aluminium plate.
Heating with a heat press
The set-up is placed in a heat press, where it is exposed to a combination of heat, pressure and time.
Ink transfer
Under the influence of heat (usually between 190–204 °C), the sublimation ink releases from the paper and turns directly into a gaseous state. This gaseous ink penetrates into the pores of the coating on the object.
The result
After cooling, the ink molecules form a permanent, durable print that is “baked” into the material at a molecular level. The result is a vivid, full-colour print that will not crack, fade or peel.
Quality
The process produces high-resolution prints with vibrant colours, which can be photo-realistic.
Versatility
It is suitable for a wide range of products, including clothing, mugs, puzzles and aluminium photo panels.
No noticeable layer
The ink penetrates the material, so the print feels smooth and flexible.
